Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic team in Warrington, United Kingdom. As an integral part of our organisation, you will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs and preparing competitive bids for our clients in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
Collaborate with various departmental functions to ensure tender returns are accurately priced, commercially sound, and technically detailed
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other professionals to foster future tender success and new client opportunities
Prepare and present detailed tender cost build-ups, ensuring strict timescales are maintained throughout the tendering process
Support the transition between the tender phase and project handover, ensuring smooth communication with project delivery teams
Continuously monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates to maintain up-to-date pricing information
Identify potential risks and opportunities within project estimates, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and maximise value
Contribute to the development of estimating processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry, preferably with a background in water or gas sectors
Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
Ability to 'take off' from design drawings, interpret specifications, and prepare Bills of Quantities
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail
Proficiency in estimating software or aptitude to learn
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field are desirable
