Job Description
Greater Manchester | £40,000 – £55,000 + Benefits
We are currently partnering with a well-established geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy to recruit a Senior Geotechnical Engineer as part of their continued growth.
This opportunity offers the chance to join a specialist consultancy delivering projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors, with particular expertise in mining risk, subsidence, and complex ground conditions. With a small, collaborative team environment, the role provides real autonomy, technical variety, and the opportunity to play a key role in project delivery and client relationships.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading and delivering ground investigation and geotechnical projects from inception through to completion, including technical reporting, client liaison, and mentoring junior engineers. The position offers a strong mix of technical and project management responsibilities, with clear scope for progression.
Key Responsibilities
Managing geotechnical and ground investigation projects Producing and reviewing technical reports and interpretative assessments Providing foundation and geotechnical design recommendations Overseeing site investigations and supervising contractors Mentoring and supporting junior team members Developing and maintaining client relationships
Requirements
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related discipline Several years’ UK consultancy experience in ground investigation and reporting Strong understanding of British Standards and geotechnical practice Experience managing projects and client communication Working towards or already achieved Chartership (ICE/GeolSoc) desirable
