This is a hands-on role where youll play a key part in maintaining and improving the reliability of our vehicle fleet, supporting the growth and development of other HGV Mechanics on site.Were looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to work on a mixed fleet of tipper and grab trucks, carrying out everything from routine servicing through to diagnostics and MOT preparation work, ensuring all vehicles are safe, compliant and ready for operation.Youll be responsible for keeping our fleet operating efficiently, minimising downtime and ensuring all maintenance is completed to a high standard. As a senior member of the team, youll also support best practice across the workshop and contribute to continuous improvement.What Youll Be DoingCarrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs across a fleet of tipper and grab trucksPreparing vehicles for MOT inspections, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety standardsDiagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtimeCompleting both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair workEnsuring all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety and DVSA standardsMaintaining accurate service records, inspection sheets and maintenance documentationSupporting fleet reliability by identifying recurring issues and recommending improvementsWorking closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure vehicle availabilityEnsuring workshop tools, equipment and working areas are maintained to a high standardSupporting and mentoring junior fitters or apprentices where requiredWhat Youll BringProven experience as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician, ideally in a similar fleet environmentStrong knowledge of HGV maintenance, servicing and repair, including hydraulics and electrical systemsExperience working on tipper and grab trucks - Experience working with Volvo and Scania trucks would be beneficial but not essentialSolid understanding of MOT preparation and vehicle compliance standardsStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skillsA proactive and solution-focused approach to maintenanceAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood organisational skills and attention to detailRelevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ/City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent)We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
