Responsibilities for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
*
Take full ownership of client relationships, clearly defining project scope and ensuring expectations are met throughout the design process.
*
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver designs that align with agreed scopes, internal quality standards, industry best practice, health and safety legislation, and client requirements.
*
Lead and oversee the preparation of detailed mechanical building services designs across a range of project types.
*
Produce high-quality specifications, drawings, and technical reports within agreed deadlines.
*
Provide an end-to-end service by monitoring project progress, design changes, and emerging requirements from concept through to completion.
*
Conduct site surveys, technical investigations, and information gathering to inform and validate design decisions.
*
Prepare mechanical calculations to support equipment selection and overall system performance.
*
Champion sustainable and energy-efficient design principles in all project work.
*
Prepare schematics, layouts, design notes, and supporting documentation as part of comprehensive design submissions.
*
Present drawings and design information for internal and external review to ensure robust quality assurance.
*
Support, guide, and mentor junior engineers, contributing to the development of the wider team.
