A global precision engineering manufacturing business based in Leicestershire is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its innovative Research & Development team. The company designs and manufactures bespoke and off-the-shelf products used across aerospace, defence, R&D and general industry. This is a technically challenging role working on high-performance, precision engineered instruments from concept through to manufacture, supporting both new technology development and existing product evolution. Key Responsibilities:

Derive mechanical performance specifications from overall system requirements Design, validate and support manufacture of precision mechanical sub-assemblies Produce detailed engineering documentation for manufacturing and service introduction Develop and justify mechanical solutions using calculations and FEA where appropriate Lead mechanical design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers Skills & Experience:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experience in mechanical/product design Proven track record delivering designs through the full product lifecycle Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering, materials, processes and quality systems Experience designing small mechanisms, with knowledge of drives and control systems Proficiency in CAD systems such as SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, with strong analytical skills
