BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join our Health & Safety team. This role will be to primarily support Social Infrastructure Business Unit in the North area and will report to the Principal OHS Advisor for the Social Infrastructure Nuclear and Defence Sector. As a Senior OHS Advisor, you will provide competent, independent and proactive safety leadership, ensuring that health, safety and wellbeing considerations are embedded from project inception through to construction. You will guide project teams through the early planning, design and risk mitigation stages, helping to secure predictable, safe and sustainable outcomes. As a Senior OHS Safety Advisor, you will act as a trusted source of expert advice, helping establish, implement and maintain effective safety systems across a range of construction and civil engineering projects. You will also coordinate and support the activities of Health & Safety Advisors within your remit. Key responsibilities include: Supervising, guiding and developing Safety Advisors under your control. Ensuring safety systems and plans meet relevant standards and are effectively implemented. Advising site management and other stakeholders on all aspects of safety management. Assisting with pre-construction needs with PQQs and Tenders Able to develop excellent relationships with manage different stakeholders including clients. Keeping clear, audit-ready safety records in line with internal requirements. Assisting managers with safety submissions, risk assessments and vendor evaluations. Leading major internal accident investigations and supporting continuous improvement activity. What do you bring to the role?

Ten plus years experience within the civil engineering sector Strong communication skills, able to engage confidently at all organisational levels. Ability to deliver H&S training when required. Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 (ISO 45001). Capability to lead major accident investigations internally. A degree is preferable but not essential. NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum) Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards it Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint plus other digital technologies Ability to present to large and small groups including delivery of formal training courses You will be able to research subjects and report on your findings Clean UK driving license and willingness to travel to other UK locations.
