Catalyst is delighted to be once more supporting a key client in the electrification technology sector in their recruitment of a Senior Project Manager to be based from their Tyneside HQ. My client is a global leader in their field and is undergoing an exciting period of change.
The Role
Reporting to the Projects & Systems Manager, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading an interdisciplinary team responsible for the design of new or revised products. You will also be responsible for planning, scheduling, and execution of all phases of product development from design through production release.
Main Responsibilities
* Works with engineers to write engineering specifications for products, ensuring customer and product requirements are captured, designed to and verified.
* Plan, organize, lead, and track the design and release of new product development projects (e.g., motor, system controllers, embedded software and/or support related products, customer specific projects, etc.).
* Interface directly with customers, sales and product management to define, develop and support products.
* Estimate cost and schedule for work to be performed, and ensure that work is completed within the estimated cost and schedule.
* Conduct status and design reviews on a regular basis and provide project status reports to management.
* Supervise the efforts of the design engineer(s) assigned to the project.
* Guide the project through all required phases of the corporate PDS.
* Maintain records and documentation (e.g., using minutes of meetings, risk/issues list, notebooks, files on internal computer networks, etc.).
* Work with group leads and engineers to write the engineering specifications.
* Assist test engineering in the initial specification of equipment and procedures for production testing.
* Assist manufacturing and test in the resolution of design related problems that arise during production.
* All other duties as assigned.
About you
To be considered for the role, it is essential that you are a degree educated, experienced Project Management professional, with experience gained in the electronics, power electronics, electromechanical, mechatronics, automation or electrification sectors.
Key Selection Criteria
* Bachelors degree in a relevant technical subject.
* Demonstrable experience gained at a Senior Project Management level
* Demonstrable project leadership experience ideally within a power electronic and/or embedded electronic control product development environment
* Demonstrable understanding of electronics, software development and mechanical design.
* Demonstrable skills in project planning, leading, organizing and tracking project progress.
* Demonstrable knowledge of good engineering practice and experience of following a recognized product development process (e.g., V-model, Waterfall, Agile).
* Experience of working directly with OEM EV manufacturers.
* Experience of developing products to meet international/European standards and legislative requirements.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
* Accuracy and good organizational skills.
