Job Description
The Opportunity\n\nWe are seeking a Quantity Surveyor/ Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our small but ambitious Yorkshire team as the region continues to grow. The Yorkshire business currently has two live developments with a combined turnover of £11m in 2025, with plans to expand to six schemes and a £30m turnover by 2028.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to play a hands-on role within a growing regional business, contributing to pricing, tendering, and the commercial delivery of new affordable housing developments across Yorkshire.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Quantification and budgeting\n\n * Financial reporting and cost monitoring\n\n * JCT contract administration\n\n * Cost management\n\n * Risk and value management\n\n * Contract negotiation\n\n * Management of subcontractor relationships\n\nIdeal Candidate\n\n * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead within the residential or housebuilding sector\n\n * Experience gained through a similar role or via internal promotion\n\n * Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials\n\n * Excellent numerical, analytical, and IT skills\n\n * Sound commercial and business awareness\n\n * Good understanding of budget management\n\n * Strong negotiation and networking abilities\n\n * Excellent communication skills\n\n * Ability to work under pressure and respond constructively to feedback\n\n * Strong teamwork skills with a methodical and detail-oriented approach\n\n * Willingness to work additional hours when required to meet business deadlines\n\nDesirable\n\n * Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline\n\n * Working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)\n\n * Comfortable working in a small, fast-growing team environment\n\n * Based within commutable distance of York\n\nSalary & Benefits\n\n * Salary and package dependent on experience\n\n * 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays\n\n * Pension: 5% employee contribution + 3% employer contribution\n\n * Salary sacrifice scheme available
