Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor\n\nSector: Power/Energy\n\nLocation: Mixture of the Birmingham office and working from home\n\nWe are recruiting for a Main Contractor who have an opportunity for you to join their Power Connections Business as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.\n\nJob Overview\n\nAre you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking your next career opportunity? Have you worked on complex utility projects and thrive under pressure?\n\nIf so, we've got the perfect role for you!\n\nWe're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support our client’s project team by leading and advising on all commercial matters. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Manager, and Finance & Procurement teams, ensuring all projects are delivered profitably, contractually compliant, and to the highest standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n Lead and manage all commercial aspects of assigned projects.\n\n * Negotiate and prepare contractual variations with clients and subcontractors.\n\n * Measure and value works completed on-site, ensuring accuracy and transparency.\n\n * Prepare and agree monthly payment applications with clients.\n\n * Assist in tender preparation, cost planning, and bid support.\n\n * Track design changes and ensure all variations are captured and agreed.\n\n * Assess subcontractor applications and monitor their performance.\n\n * Review and report progress against the works programme.\n\n * Maintain budgetary control and prepare cost-to-completion forecasts.\n\n * Issue and manage Early Warning Notices (EWNs) in line with contract requirements.\n\n * Support Project Managers with contractual and commercial advice.\n\n * Liaise with the Legal team to prepare and review sub-contracts.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\n * Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.\n\n * 10+ years' experience in a similar role within Utilities or Civil Engineering industries.\n\n * Strong commercial acumen and numerical analysis skills.\n\n * Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.\n\n * Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.\n\n * Sound understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g.
