Job Description
Senior Software Engineer | Python | AI Systems | London | £120k to £160k + Equity
Location: London hybrid
Salary: £120k to £160k + meaningful equity
Building AI systems is easy. Building AI systems that behave predictably in production is not.
We are working with a well funded Series A startup tackling exactly that problem. Their platform captures operational knowledge and turns it into production grade systems that AI can interact with safely and reliably. The focus is not foundation model development or experimental agents. The real challenge is the engineering around AI. Evaluation, control, reliability and designing systems that behave consistently in production.
The engineering team is small, senior and deeply technical. Engineers work directly with users, own problems end to end and help shape both the technical architecture and product direction. It is an environment where correctness, thoughtful design and long term system quality genuinely matter.

Tech stack
Python (FastAPI, Django or Flask) - experience across Rust, Golang, C++ useful
AWS (experience with Azure or GCP also useful)
Cursor and Claude Code
SQL and strong database design
What you will work on
Designing and building backend systems that power a complex AI platform
Developing ingestion pipelines and integrations with production customer systems
Owning schemas, data models and backend architecture with a focus on correctness and scale
Building tooling that enables AI capabilities while maintaining strong control and evaluation standards
Working directly with customers to translate workflows into reliable systems
What they are looking for
Strong backend or systems engineering experience
Deep Python experience or equivalent strength in a strongly typed
Strong SQL and schema design skills
Experience building complex systems that evolve over time
Comfort working in early stage environments with high ownership and ambiguity
