Senior Java Software Engineer (Contractor)UK-Based | Fully RemoteOutside IR35Contract to Dec 2026We are supporting a global engineering and technology organisation in the search for a Senior Java Software Engineer (Contractor) to join their Performance Engineering & Research team.This is a fully remote opportunity (UK-based candidates only) working on robust, scalable software that supports sophisticated control algorithms and performance optimisation systems.The RoleYou will design, build and maintain efficient, high-performance Java applications, contributing across the full software development lifecycle including:Requirements analysis and system designDevelopment and implementationTesting and deploymentCI/CD and automation improvementsTechnical documentationWorking under the guidance of the Principal Performance Engineer, you will collaborate with solution design, integration, simulation and delivery teams globally.What We’re Looking ForMinimum 5 years’ professional Java development experienceStrong understanding of OOP, design patterns and software architecture principlesProven experience delivering scalable, maintainable systemsExperience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)Exposure to containerisation and logging technologies (e.g., Docker, ELK)Strong analytical and problem solving capabilityExcellent communication skillsNice to have: Experience within logistics, WMS or warehouse automation — however strong Java developers from any industry will be considered.Contract DetailsFully remote (UK-based candidates only)Outside IR35Contract funded through December 2026Full‑time engagementASAP startNo predefined rate band — quality is prioritisedATA is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer.
