About The Organisation

The Central Legal Office (CLO), part of NSS, provides a comprehensive commercial contracts service to NHS Scotland and to the wider public sector. The department covers Litigation, Employment, Commercial Contracts and Commercial Property, staffed by experienced solicitors and support staff.
Role Overview
We are recruiting for two Senior Solicitor posts in the Commercial Contracts Department. The successful candidate will provide public procurement and general commercial contract advice to NHS and public sector clients. The role involves both large and small procurement projects, including negotiation and drafting of contracts, and general commercial contract advice.
Qualifications & Experience
Significant post‑qualified experience as a solicitor in commercial contract and procurement law.
Experience managing a varied workload and engaging with clients at different seniority levels.
Strong ability to negotiate, draft and manage contractual agreements.
Disclosed by NHS Scotland: successful completion of a Disclosure Scotland check and, for those who have lived or worked overseas for more than 12 months in the past five years, a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location & Working Pattern
Base: Gyle Square, Edinburgh. The role operates within a hybrid working model. Attendance at the office is required for monthly departmental meetings and for project negotiation or training sessions as necessary. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. Applicants must be UK residents.
