Job Description
Job Title: Senior Submarine Stealth EngineerLocation: Barrow-in-Furness- OnsiteSalary: CompetitiveWhat you’ll be doing:Collaboratively work with multi-functional teams to design and develop low signature equipment, systems and the whole platform, by agreeing technical requirements, assessment methodologies and acceptance criteriaSupporting the of acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature reports at key review stages of the submarine designReviewing of system design documentation to ensure that electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature requirements have been addressedIdentifying and development of modelling work packages to predict electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature performanceCollaborating with the Stealth Engineering Test team to develop test procedures and analysis in test cells to develop acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature management features, including the design of appropriate test rigsInterpreting acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic measurement and assessment of submarine machinery at factory and on board, ensuring that signature levels are suitable to maintain the stealth requirementsSupporting large scale acoustic, electromagnetic and non-acoustic signature trials during major commissioning activitiesYour skills and experiences:Essential:Qualified to Degree level in Maths, Physics, Oceanography, Engineering, or associated STEM degreeknowledge of the principles of acoustic, electromagnetismKnowledge of stealth technology development or ship/submarine signature technologyRequirements managementDesirable:Knowledge of submarine or naval engineeringUsing DOORSQualified to postgraduate in Maths, Physics, Oceanography, Engineering, or associated STEM degreeBenefits:As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Electromagnetic and Non-Acoustics (NAVED) team:The opportunity work on exciting, world-pioneering engineering and business projects that support our defence and security.
