EDC is recognised throughout the industry as being at the forefront of sustainable design and as a consultancy, it is a way of thinking that we promote and encourage across all design teams.THE ROLEWe are looking for A Senior Sustainability Engineer to manage, design, develop & evaluate energy related projects or programs to reduce or improve energy costs & energy efficiency during the designing, building or re-modelling stages of construction.Lead and manage full the Energy & Sustainability Engineering for all of our projects, delivered internally and externally, responsible for project performance and profitability whilst always demonstrating Client care.Provide quality control for Energy and Sustainability Engineering projects across all offices.Co-Ordinating dynamic thermal modelling ( IESVE ) analysis including: Part L Assessments, Comfort Analysis ( TM 52/59 ), natural ventilation studies and daylighting.Undertaking and overseeing studies relationg to BREEAM credits including: thermal comfort, low and zero carbon technologies, reduction of emissions, predicted operational energy and daylighting.Leading residential Part L assessments utilising accredited SAP software as part of large scale energy strategies.Experience with Passivhaus planning package ( PHPP ) and Whole life carbon calculations / Circular economy principles is preferred but not mandatoryThermal bridging ( Psi ) calculations and condensation risk analyses experience is advantageous.Undertaking domestic and / or non domestic EPC's for new and existing buildings.Prepare high quality reports that clearly and concisely communicate the issues involved and the conclusions. The preperation of sustainability and energy strategies will be core part of the job role.Project cost control.Management of both project teams and cross-functional teams inclusing sub contractors within the organisational structure.Preparing Energy & Sustainability statements for developments to compliment planning submissions. This will include coordination and managing energy/ sustainability contributions from many different design team stakeholders.Support bidding for new opportunities including contributors to marketing materical and attendance at interviews for projects at a range of scales.Mentor and develop less experienced Engineers.Travel to client and project locations as required to represent EDC for meetings / surveys / training etc.Ensure that the good name and reputation of EDC is maintained and promoted within the industry to enable repeat work.Liaise and collaborate with other EDC offices for all matters as appropriate.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEMinimum Degree in Building Services is required - Sustainability/Electrical/Mechanical/Civil-Structural Engineering with further qualifications in Energy/SustainabilityA good understanding of mechanical and electrical services systems and design engineeringMinimum three years experience as a Sustainability Engineer and ideally in a consultancy environmentExperience in thermal modelling using IES VE with a solid understanding of MEP services in addition to a general understanding of current Building Regulations including Part L and Part F.Desirable: Qualified Domestic / Non-Domestic EPC AssessorExperience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, dynamic energy modelling software advantageous.Working towards Chartered status or professional membership is desirableKNOWLEDGE & SKILLSGood knowledge and experience of UK Building Regulations legislation are requiredExcellent report writing and communication skillsKnowledge of CIBSE, BS and IS StandardsExcellent problem-solving, and IT skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with proven ability to work as part of a teamStrong sense of commercial awarenessBENEFITSCompetitive SalaryPaid Overtime / Time in Lieu / FlexitimePerformance based Annual Bonus PaymentPension Scheme / Death in ServiceWellbeing Allowance & Life Balance DaysStaff Social nightsWork from home flexibilityPerformance & Development ManagementFull access to EDCs Tech DatabaseEducational support including Chartership1 extra weeks paid leave on reaching 5th AnniversaryOUR HIRING PROCESSWe know you live a busy life and so, we have adopted a hiring process that is targeted and streamlined.
