VMware Engineer - Vulnerability Remediation\n\n£575 a day (Inside IR35)\n\n4 Months\n\nManchester (2 days onsite)\n\nWe are seeking an experienced VMware Engineer (Contract) to support a focused vulnerability assessment and remediation programme across a complex on-premises VMware estate. This is a delivery-focused contract role requiring immediate impact. The contractor will take full ownership of identifying, analysing, and remediating security vulnerabilities across VMware vSphere, VMware ESXi, and VMware vCenter Server environments.

You will be expected to operate independently, manage challenging stakeholders, and drive remediation to completion within agreed timelines.\n\nKey Objectives\n\nAssess and validate vulnerability findings across the VMware estate.\nRemediate critical and high-risk vulnerabilities within defined SLA windows.\nReduce overall risk exposure through patching, upgrades, configuration hardening, and compensating controls.\nProvide clear reporting on remediation status, risk acceptance, and outstanding actions.\nReview and validate vulnerability scan outputs affecting ESXi hosts and vCenter components.\nPerform impact and risk assessments prior to remediation.\nESXi patching and upgrades\nvCenter updates\nSecurity configuration hardening\nCluster remediation activities\nCoordinate change management activities and maintenance windows.\nConduct root cause analysis on recurring vulnerabilities.\nEngage directly with infrastructure, network, security, teams to resolve dependencies.\nChallenge and influence stakeholders to ensure remediation actions are prioritised appropriately.\nProvide clear technical documentation and executive-level status reporting.\nEnsure remediation activities align with vendor advisories and industry security standards.\nRequired Experience\n\nStrong hands-on experience in enterprise on-prem VMware environments.\nProven track record of delivering vulnerability remediation programmes.\nDeep knowledge of vSphere architecture and cluster design\nESXi lifecycle and patch management\nvCenter upgrade paths and dependencies\nHA, DRS, vMotion configurations\nExperience working with security scanning tools and interpreting CVEs.\nStrong understanding of infrastructure hardening and security best practices.\nAbility to operate autonomously with minimal supervision.\nExperience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
