Shift Multiskilled Engineer - Electrical – Manufacturing Environment – Competitive Salary + Benefits
Our client is a leading manufacturing organisation operating within a highly regulated process environment. They are seeking a Shift Multiskilled Engineer (Electrically biased) to join their established engineering team.
This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on maintaining, improving, and supporting plant reliability, safety, and performance. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring engineering excellence while upholding the highest standards of safety and food compliance.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across site-wide electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
You will operate within a safety-critical, process-driven environment, ensuring plant reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Technical Responsibilities
*
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
*
Perform detailed fault finding and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
*
Maintain and update CMMS and maintenance records accurately.
*
Work on PLCs, HMIs, DCS and associated control systems.
*
Conduct instrument calibrations and control valve maintenance.
*
Support refurbishment and upgrades across factory plant, laboratory equipment, and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) systems.
*
Work safely with hazardous systems including steam, compressed air, water, and chemicals such as HCL, nitric acid, caustic and ammonia.
*
Support continuous improvement (CI) and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
*
Provide engineering support to meet operational production targets.
*
Mentor colleagues and support knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
What You’ll Bring
*
Apprentice-trained Electrical Engineer with mechanical competence (multi-skilled).
*
City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline.
*
Electrical 17th or 18th Edition qualification.
*
HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical / Engineering discipline.
*
Strong fault-finding capability across PLCs, HMIs, DCS and SCADA systems.
*
Experience with instrument calibration and control systems.
*
Strong communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams.
Desirable Experience
*
CMMS experience (preventative and predictive maintenance).
*
Siemens or Yokogawa DCS systems experience.
*
CompEx EX01–EX06 certification.
*
IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification.
*
ETP, CHP, chemical or process plant experience.
*
Contractor management experience
