We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer for a 278 works package based in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to secure 5 months of work with strong day rates and an immediate start.

Location: Wigan Start Date: ASAP Duration: 5 Months Rate: £300 – £350 per shift

We require a competent engineer with proven experience delivering 278 works and highway schemes, working to tight programmes and maintaining high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Setting out and surveying for 278 works packages

*

Overseeing highway works in accordance with design specifications

*

Managing QA documentation and site records

*

Coordinating with subcontractors and site teams

*

Ensuring health & safety compliance across the project

*

Supporting the project manager with progress reporting

The successful engineer will have:

Strong setting out experience on 278 works or highway projects

*

Proficiency with total station and GPS equipment

*

Ability to interpret technical drawings

*

CSCS card (essential)

*

Previous experience as a site engineer on local authority or developer-led schemes

This role would suit a proactive engineer who can work independently and drive programme on a busy 278 works package. The ideal engineer will be confident managing daily site activity while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
