Role Summary


The Site Engineer is responsible for delivering precise setting out, technical coordination, and quality assurance across residential infrastructure and housing plots. This role ensures that roads, drainage systems, and substructure works are constructed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.


This position is well suited to an engineer with residential groundworks or infrastructure experience who is confident supervising subcontractors and maintaining high technical and safety standards on site.


Key Responsibilities


Setting Out & Engineering Control

  • Set out and supervise construction of:
  • Estate roads and junctions
  • Foul and surface water drainage systems
  • Plot foundations and floor slabs
  • Kerbing, external works, and finished levels
  • Establish, verify, and maintain site control points
  • Conduct routine line and level checks to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain accurate as-built records and documentation


Subcontractor Coordination

  • Work closely with groundworks and infrastructure subcontractors
  • Monitor workmanship, quality standards, and productivity
  • Review and assess RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements)
  • Assist in tracking progress and reporting on site performance


Health & Safety

  • Always promote and uphold safe working practices
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures
  • Support site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews


Candidate Requirements

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Demonstrated site engineering experience within residential or civil engineering projects
  • Proficiency in using total station and GPS surveying equipment
  • Full UK driving licence
