Job Description
Freelance Site Manager – Distribution Centre Refurbishment & Fit-Out\nProject: 22 weeks\nLocation: Manchester\nStart Date: Mid Feb\nDay Rate: Negotiable\nWe are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join our client who are main contractor that turnover circa £80m. They have been allocated a roll out in the region of £35m’s worth of Small / Medium Distribution centre refurbishments for their client, a world leading brand. The scope of works vary across all schemes and are from £1.2m to £2.4m a piece.\nProject durations are 22 – 26 weeks.\nThis is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, organisational skills, and the ability to deliver the project on time and to a high standard.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Manage day-to-day site operations across the 24-week programme.\n * Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site teams to ensure smooth delivery.\n * Monitor progress against programme milestones and report regularly to the project team.\n * Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.\n * Oversee quality control and resolve any issues that arise during construction and fit- out.\nRequirements\n * Proven track record as a Site Manager on refurbishment and fit-out projects.\n * Experience in managing distribution centres, warehouses, or similar industrial facilities would be ideal but essential.\n * Strong knowledge of construction processes, health & safety, and compliance standards.\n * Excellent communication and leadership skills.\n * Ability to work independently and drive the project to completion.\n * Freelance/contract availability for the full 24-week duration.\nCertificates required\n * CSCS Card (managers)\n * SMSTS\n * 3 day first Aid\n * Asbestos Awareness\nWhat We Offer\n * Competitive freelance day rate and a run of work for the 2026\n * Opportunity to lead a significant refurbishment projects from start to finish.\n * Collaborative working environment with a supportive project team
