Software Engineer – Trading Systems | London or New York | Hybrid | Build Core Systems with Impact

A top-tier trading firm is hiring a Software Engineer to join their trading systems team, supporting infra that powers every trade across all asset classes. They're backfilling a long-tenured engineer, with headcount confirmed for both London and New York. This is a high-impact role with long-term growth, mentorship, and access to comp typically reserved for front-office roles.

What you'll do:

• Build and support low-latency infrastructure behind a global trading book
• Work across C++ and Python (roughly 70/30 split), with training and support to level up in C++ if needed
• Contribute to everything from trade processing to system design, in a team that owns the stack end to end

Who you are:

• Strong engineer with experience in Java, Python, or C++ (must be open to working with C++)
• Background in Computer Science, Engineering, or Maths from a top university (Russell Group, Ivy League)
• Clear track record of impact and ownership
• 3 to 7 years of experience with stable career progression
• Domain experience in finance is beneficial but NOT required!
• Hands-on greenfield engineering work (60%) and system ownership (40%), not just maintenance
• Direct exposure to traders and alpha teams, with opportunity to move closer to modelling
• Supportive and collaborative team culture - 95% retention rate
• Hybrid setup: 3 days a week in office (London or NYC)
• Base salary up to £300,000 / $400,000, with total comp up to 100% of base dependent upon company performance
