What will the Senior Software Manager be doing? This is a leadership-focused role, where you will be responsible for managing and guiding a team of 5 software engineers, rather than hands‑on coding. You will play a key role in delivering software for a high‑altitude, long‑endurance aircraft platform, ensuring successful collaboration across engineering disciplines. Key responsibilities
Leading the day‑to‑day activities of the software engineering team Managing delivery against team goals, timelines, and priorities Acting as a technical authority, ensuring compliance with aerospace and safety standards Overseeing the planning, development, verification, and integration of software systems Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members Supporting recruitment and team growth Collaborating with systems, avionics, flight operations, and maintenance teams Liaising with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities and suppliers
Qualifications
Proven experience leading or managing software engineering teams Strong background as a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead / Engineering Manager Experience working within safety‑critical environments Knowledge of aerospace or regulated standards (e.g. DO-178C, ARP4754A, etc.) Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Experience managing team workloads, priorities, and delivery Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or similar Experience within aerospace or aviation environments Familiarity with C/C++/Ada or similar languages Experience working with regulatory bodies (e.g. CAA) Background in requirements management and verification
