As our new Head of Department for Project and Programme Management, you will be part of the Ramboll Transport team in the UK & Ireland. You will be responsible for heading up a multidisciplinary team covering Project and Programme Management, Commercial, Digital and Production Management, and Sustainable Solutions to successfully deliver a wide range of diverse projects while driving business growth. The role requires the successful candidate to drive the external focus for the team and develop a Business Development & Growth Strategy to realize the ambition of growing the Department's external revenue streams and client base. You will bring an established industry network and be involved in client engagement and development. Your internal responsibilities will include leading the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the Transport portfolio and actively contributing to the operational performance of the Business Unit and driving business growth. Our portfolio includes clients within the public and private sectors, and our multidisciplinary teams assist clients and external collaborators in all project phasesfrom developing business plans and strategic planning to solution selection and project execution.
You will be a significant contributor to the Transport leadership/management group, where you and other Heads of Department will contribute to setting strategic priorities for continuous growth.
Business Development & Growth Strategy
Develop a Business Plan outlining a Development & Growth Strategy for the Department by expanding external revenue streams and client base.
Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, increasing the companys market share.
Build and nurture client relationships for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and professional forums.
Previous experience and industry connections in Water and Energy sectors are advantageous.
Report project performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a high-performing project management team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Oversee recruitment, training, and mentoring to ensure professional growth.
Set performance objectives, conduct appraisals, and promote continuous improvement.
Manage departmental budgets and meet financial targets.
Drive profitability through resource allocation and cost management.
Contribute to pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and change management.
Improve profitability and operational performance across projects in the Transport portfolio.
Business Acumen: Strategic mindset with a history of identifying growth opportunities and securing new business.
Project Management Expertise: Experience managing complex projects in engineering consultancy or similar.
Risk & Quality Management: Ability to anticipate challenges and implement solutions.
Educational Background: Degree in engineering, project management, or related field; certifications like PRINCE2 or PMP are advantageous.
