About the Fellowship
We are inviting applications for a Neurosurgery Spine Fellow to join our department for a 12-month fellowship in comprehensive spinal neurosurgery. This fellowship provides advanced training in the evaluation and management of complex spinal disorders, with extensive operative exposure.
Key Clinical Exposure
- Degenerative cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disease
- Intradural and extradural spinal tumours
- Spinal infections
- Deformity and stabilization procedures
- Minimally invasive spine surgery (where applicable)
Professional Development Opportunities
- Structured mentorship and subspecialty training
- Participation in research, audits, and academic activities
- Teaching involvement with residents and medical students
- Attendance at regional and international spine meetings (where applicable)
Responsibilities
The fellow will work closely with experienced consultant neurosurgeons in a high-volume centre, gaining progressive operative responsibility and clinical independence. The post holder will work closely with neurosurgery resident doctors and nursing teams, including a 1:12 resident on call rota.
Key Skills
Strong clinical judgement, professionalism, and teamwork skills are required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full Registration with the general Medical Council
- MRCS or equivalent
- ST3+ Neurosurgery experience
- ATLS
- Demonstrates competent surgical practice
