Supply Chain Manager

Location: North East England

Reports to: General Manager


The Role

We are recruiting for a hands-on, commercially aware Supply Chain Manager to lead end-to-end supply chain operations within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable material availability, effective planning, strong supplier performance, inventory control, and efficient warehousing and logistics.

The position combines operational leadership with strategic input, driving continuous improvement, cost optimisation, and cross-functional alignment through an effective S&OP process.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operational Performance

  • Lead and develop the supply chain function across planning, procurement, warehousing, and logistics.
  • Deliver strong day-to-day operational performance, ensuring stock accuracy and service levels are maintained.
  • Define and manage KPIs, driving accountability and performance improvements.


Planning & S&OP

  • Own and lead the demand and supply planning process.
  • Drive forecast accuracy and ensure material availability to support production.
  • Lead the S&OP process, ensuring cross-functional alignment and high-quality inputs.
  • Manage inventory levels to balance service, working capital, and waste reduction.


Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Provide direction on purchasing decisions and contract negotiations.
  • Manage supplier performance, risk, and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Develop strong, sustainable supplier relationships.


Logistics & Warehousing

  • Oversee freight, transport planning, and 3PL relationships.
  • Ensure cost-effective and reliable distribution performance.
  • Drive improvements in warehouse efficiency and transport optimisation.


Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Lead operational improvement initiatives across systems and processes (ERP/MRP).
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Quality standards.
  • Maintain audit readiness and promote responsible sourcing practices.


Candidate Profile

  • Proven supply chain leadership experience within FMCG or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong operational expertise across planning, procurement, warehousing, and logistics.
  • Experience leading S&OP processes and cross-functional alignment.
  • ERP/MRP proficiency with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cost and service improvements.
