Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker
Provide trauma informed support, safeguarding and care planning within a residential refuge setting. This is a rewarding Support Worker opportunity supporting survivors of domestic abuse with risk management, housing support and community reintegration across East Sussex.

SALARY:
£28,816 per annum plus additional payments for participation in the on-call rota
LOCATION:
Working at sites in Hastings and Bexhill East Sussex
with the understanding to travel to other sites in East Sussex (Eastbourne and Seaford) when required. Travel would be paid as per the mileage policy.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join a residential refuge service supporting survivors and their families across East Sussex.
As a Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will deliver needs and risk assessments, safeguarding support and structured keywork sessions within a trauma informed residential care environment. You will work collaboratively with partner agencies including local authorities and housing benefit teams to promote independence and wellbeing.
The Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker will provide crisis intervention, housing management support and practical assistance, empowering residents to rebuild their lives safely and confidently.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:
Needs and Risk Assessments:
Complete comprehensive assessments to identify risk, safeguarding concerns and support requirements
Care Planning:
Develop and review personalised support and care plans focused on safety, wellbeing and independence
Keywork Sessions:
Deliver regular one-to-one and group sessions to promote recovery and life skills
Crisis Intervention:
De-escalate challenging situations calmly using conflict resolution strategies
Housing Management:
Carry out building checks, report repairs and support room turnaround within the residential setting
Multi-Agency Working:
Liaise with local authorities, police, treatment services and voluntary organisations to coordinate support
Benefits Support:
Assist residents with enhanced Housing Benefit applications and accessing the wider benefits system
Practical Assistance:
Support residents with paperwork, appointments and move-on accommodation
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate case notes, daily logs and incident reports in line with GDPR and safeguarding requirements
On-Call Participation:
Contribute to the agreed on-call rota to ensure consistent service delivery
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Previous experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse within residential care, refuge or supported housing
Proven experience of risk management, safeguarding and public protection within a residential setting
Experience with care planning, keywork delivery and supporting vulnerable and complex individuals
A clear understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Experience of multi-agency working with statutory and voluntary services
Knowledge of the housing and benefits system, particularly Housing Benefit
Ability to manage crisis situations and make sound decisions to ensure safety
Willingness to undertake relevant training, including First Aid
Ability to travel across East Sussex as required
DESIRABLE
A background in residential service delivery or housing support
Experience of processing benefit claims
Understanding of the housing needs of survivors of domestic abuse
Social Work qualification
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the additional barred list check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre-employment process for any successful candidate.
