Job Title: Systems Engineer – Software & MBSE Focus

Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

Salary: Up to £90,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong focus on software-intensive systems and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to join a growing engineering team based in Lincoln.


This role involves working across the full systems lifecycle, supporting the design, development, integration, and verification of complex systems in a technically challenging environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, from concept to delivery
  • Develop and maintain system architectures using MBSE principles
  • Create and manage system models, requirements, interfaces, and traceability
  • Work closely with software engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective system integration
  • Support requirements decomposition and allocation to software components
  • Contribute to system verification, validation, and technical reviews
  • Identify and manage technical risks and support continuous process improvement


Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in systems engineering with a strong emphasis on software-centric systems
  • Hands-on experience applying MBSE in an industrial or project environment
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, or similar
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycles and system integration
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively
  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline


Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in regulated or high-integrity industries (e.g. defence, aerospace, rail, automotive)
  • Knowledge of SysML and related modelling standards
  • Exposure to simulation, modelling, or virtual environments
  • Experience with safety, security, or reliability engineering
