Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Teacher of Music with excellent subject knowledge who can deliver inspiring lessons across KS3, GCSE, and A Level classes. There are also many opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to our co-curricular programme through leading ensembles, and strong keyboard skills would be an advantage.Music is an important part of life at Ibstock and we run a successful and wide-ranging programme. We offer excellent co-curricular opportunities across styles - classical, rock and pop, musical theatre, and jazz - with regular small and large-scale performance opportunities, including an annual concert at Sinfonia Smith Square.

Choral music is a notable strength, and the Schola Cantorum and Ibstock Choristers sing evensong regularly at Holy Trinity, Roehampton, and in cathedrals in London and beyond.Music is a popular subject at GCSE uptake is very good with around 20 pupils per year. We follow the Eduqas syllabus at both GCSE and A Level. Examination outcomes are strong and, in recent years, pupils have received offers to study Music at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, and Bristol, and have gone on to pursue performance courses at conservatoires including Guildhall and RNCM.Teaching staff are expected to be in School between 08:00 am to 16:00 however, hours are as required to fulfil the duties of this role, both before and after school hours.

Ibstock operates a six-month probationary period for teaching roles.This is a full-time, permanent role.The start date - 1 September 2026.Salary will be competitive depending on skills and knowledge.Deadline for application - 8 March 2026.
