We’re VIVID! – We’re the fifth largest developer of new homes amongst housing associations in England, having built over 1,500 last year.
Are you passionate about delivering high-quality, sustainable homes? Do you thrive on embedding best practices in technical project delivery?
We’re looking for a Technical Manager to join our development team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our housing portfolio. Contractually based out of our Portsmouth office, this is a full-time permanent role, working 37 hours a week with a minimum of 20% of this to be office-based to promote collaboration and teamwork.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is a new role within the Business, offering an opportunity for individuals to create and craft the role and to define a pathway for the future. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead design quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive innovation across multiple projects.
What we can offer you:
- 26 days holiday (plus bank holidays), with options to buy or sell annual leave
- A productivity-related bonus scheme
- A generous contributory pension of 6%, with employer matching between 7% and 10%
- Life assurance at 3x annual salary
- Private medical insurance
- Health care cash plan (Medicash)
- Enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave
- Access to counselling, legal, and financial support services
- Electric car scheme
- In-house & e-learning courses, coaching, and mentoring programs
Role specifics:
In this pivotal role, you’ll lead internal design consultations and manage external design teams, ensuring all proposals meet our Employer’s Requirements and translate into high-quality, buildable homes.
You’ll promote a culture of ‘conscious design’ focused on residents’ lived experience, embedding structured design programs aligned with RIBA stages and Building Safety Act Gateways. You’ll own building safety compliance, implementing robust processes to meet Golden Thread requirements and ensuring projects are safe and regulation-compliant.
Your work will be guided by stakeholder engagement, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
The Technical Manager should be qualified in a relevant discipline (Civil, Environmental, Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management) or have significant industry experience, and be a member of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIAT, APM, or equivalent.
You should have a strong understanding of architectural and technical requirements, building regulations, and renewable technologies. Skills in troubleshooting, design interrogation, stakeholder engagement, and familiarity with RIBA stages, planning legislation, and tender evaluation are essential.
