Role Overview
An established renewable energy engineering and services organisation is seeking a Technical Sales Manager (Biogas Construction & Service) to drive new business growth across service, maintenance, and greenfield project activities.
This role will focus on identifying commercial opportunities across mechanical, electrical, and biological service capabilities, while supporting construction sales for new build biogas facilities. The position works closely with the Service Management team and operational teams to maximise performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will ensure all commercial activities are delivered in line with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and secure new service and construction opportunities within the anaerobic digestion and renewable energy sector.
- Conduct on-site engineering assessments and propose cost-effective technical solutions.
- Prepare and submit detailed quotations aligned with company standards.
- Proactively follow up on submitted quotations to convert opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with technical sales and project delivery teams to support new build projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Attend industry exhibitions and represent the company at sector events.
- Monitor market developments, emerging technologies, and innovation within the AD sector.
Commercial & Financial Oversight
- Support annual sales target delivery and strive to exceed performance expectations.
- Review existing sales systems and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Submit monthly reports detailing pipeline activity and work in progress.
- Assist in contract renewals and account retention.
- Monitor outstanding customer payments and support credit control where necessary.
- Set up new customer accounts in coordination with finance teams.
Operational & Team Collaboration
- Liaise closely with service delivery teams to ensure sold works are executed effectively.
- Support supplier development and negotiate competitive pricing structures.
- Facilitate on-the-job training for apprentices where required.
- Ensure safe working practices are upheld across all site visits and projects.
- Report any departmental deficiencies and propose improvement measures.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required
Education & Technical Background
- Technical Education (minimum).
- 5 years+ experience.
- Construction experience in biogas, bioenergy, biomass or anaerobic digestion.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ideally apprenticeship-trained in Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
- Engineering qualification (NVQ / C&G / HNC or equivalent).
- Demonstrable mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Knowledge of construction industry procedures and CDM regulations.
- Experience with CHP engines, pumps, electrical systems, pneumatics, and anaerobic digestion operations.
- Understanding of biological principles in AD (training can be provided).

- Report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain professional conduct, company vehicle standards, and equipment care.
Lines of Communication
- Reports directly to the Service Management Team.
- Works closely with internal engineering, sales, and technical teams.
- Regular engagement with customers, suppliers, and OEM partners.
- Personnel: Supervisory responsibility for apprentices during sales secondments.
