Overhaul Technician Contract Duration: 8 weeks Location: Manchester Pay Rates: Umbrella Pay Rate: £23.49 per hour / PAYE Pay Rate: £18.86 per hour Role Overview: You will be undertaking overhaul, maintenance and modification duties as a T2 Technician, working across various rolling stock fleets whilst adhering to Siemens processes, procedures and safety standards: Carry out the initial inspection of Trains in line with Siemens maintenance specifications Perform axle bearing removal, ensuring no damage to the axle or associated components, and prepare bearings for dispatch to approved external suppliers Undertake paint removal on axles to facilitate detailed inspection and overhaul activities Complete component removal, taking all necessary precautions to prevent damage to parts Carry out surface defect removal in accordance with engineering standards Perform oil drain and refill on gearboxes, couplings, and associated components Conduct initial inspections, accurately reporting findings through Siemens maintenance systems and to the relevant supervisor Undertake wheelset removal, ensuring no damage to the vehicle frame or components Assist with vehicle disassembly and safe removal of components Carry out component repair activities in line with Siemens technical instructions and specifications Support cleaning and housekeeping activities of rolling stock and work areas Knowledge & Experience Experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering or process environment Experience of basic fault finding Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures Ability to understand and care for tools, equipment and PPE Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Ability to use a computer Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications Ability to produce detailed complex, analytical technical reports All PPE provided and Health and Safety explained before and on site.
