Exalto Consulting is supporting the delivery of a national data programme. This work focuses on improving how information is shared across services, helping teams make better-informed decisions and ultimately improving patient outcomes. We are looking for an experienced Tester to join a multidisciplinary delivery team. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly contribute to the reliability, safety and usability of digital services used in real-world settings. The Role
You will design and deliver testing activities that ensure services are reliable, fit for purpose and aligned with user needs. You'll work closely with developers, analysts and product teams to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle. This is a practical role with a strong focus on both functional and automated testing, as well as continuous improvement of testing approaches. What You'll Be Doing Designing and executing functional, exploratory and automated tests Reviewing requirements, designs and prototypes to identify risks and define test coverage Recording and managing defects, supporting teams to investigate and resolve issues Contributing to automated test suites and testing pipelines Supporting improvements to assurance processes and testing integration Working collaboratively within agile teams to ensure early and continuous testing Applying appropriate testing techniques to improve service reliability and reduce risk What We're Looking For
Essential experience: Strong experience in test design and execution across manual and automated testing Ability to assess requirements and identify appropriate test coverage and risks Experience managing defects through their full lifecycle Exposure to test automation and contributing to automated test suites Understanding of modern engineering practices (e.g. version control, CI/CD, integrated testing) Clear communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Desirable: Experience within healthcare, public sector or other regulated environments Familiarity with risk-based testing in large-scale digital services Experience contributing to quality improvements in agile teams Technology Environment
You don't need experience with everything listed, but familiarity with similar tools and approaches will help: Testing frameworks: Playwright, Jest, pytest API testing: Pact (contract testing), Bruno Cloud & infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Docker Languages & platforms: Python, Java, .NET/C# API management: Apigee How the Team Works Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams Shared responsibility for quality across engineering and product Early and continuous testing to reduce delivery risk Emphasis on collaboration, feedback and continuous improvement Additional information Candidates must be eligible for SC (Security Check) clearance You must have lived in the UK continuously for the past 5 years (with no significant gaps) This role offers an opportunity to obtain or transfer SC clearance, which may support future project opportunities A note from Exalto Consulting
