Tools Development EngineerLocation: Filton (Full time, on-site) Contract: 6 months (with potential extension) Working Pattern: 35 hours per week | Flexible start/finish within core hours Rate: £29.89 PAYE or £40.00 UmbrellaAbout the RoleGuidant Global is working in partnership with Airbus to recruit an experienced Tools Development Engineer to support the successful industrialisation of jigs and tooling assets within a complex manufacturing environment.In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring tooling solutions are designed, developed, integrated and handed over seamlessly into operations. You'll collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Human Factors and external suppliers to deliver safe, compliant and efficient tooling solutions that support production excellence.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working across the full tooling lifecycle and wants to contribute to high-profile aerospace programmes.What You'll Be DoingAs a Tools Development Engineer, you will:Lead the creation, development and modification of jigs and tooling assets, from initial request through to final acceptance and handoverTranslate requirements from Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance and Human Factors into robust technical specificationsAct as technical project lead, managing supplier interfaces and supporting supplier selection and performanceEnsure tooling solutions meet Health & Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental, Security and Export Control requirementsSupport CapEx and OpEx activities in collaboration with FinanceOversee tooling design datasets, validation and manufacturing acceptanceSupport plants and Final Assembly Lines where tooling assets are in useContribute to root cause analysis, continuous improvement and non-conformance resolutionCollaborate with R&D to integrate older and emerging industrial technologies What We're Looking ForEssential Experience & SkillsHNC in Engineering or significant hands-on experience (10+ years) in jig and tool design/engineeringStrong experience using CATIA V5Solid tooling experience within a manufacturing or production environment (automotive or other regulated industries considered)Awareness of tooling maintenance and lifecycle requirementsAbility to prepare clear, structured tooling specificationsConfident communicator, able to engage effectively from shop floor to senior stakeholdersStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloadIT literate and comfortable working with digital toolsDesirable ExperienceKnowledge of dimensional metrology systems (CMM, Laser Tracker, Faro Arm, Photogrammetry)Mechanical engineering backgroundExperience with additive manufacturing / 3D printingPractical Problem Solving (PPS) and PFMEA knowledgeFamiliarity with MDM-R vaultingAwareness of Machinery Directive legislation and compliance requirements Why Join Guidant Global?At Guidant Global, people are at the heart of everything we do.
