Town Planner

RPS is looking for Town Planners to join our National Development & Infrastructure Planning Team based in Cardiff, Bristol, or Edinburgh. The range of work on offer is wide and varied and will provide you with rich experience in town planning. Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services within a team of planning experts, you will have the opportunity to aid and deliver on a broad range of planning applications including residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics and major infrastructure projects.
With our planning service at the heart of the business, the role will give you a progressive step-up in presiding over planning casework and help towards defining a career pathway towards promotion.

What you will be doing
You will be assisting our strategic planning work, which includes the preparation of representations to Local Plan consultations and developing planning strategies to promote land and development for inclusion in Local Plans.
· Assisting Planning Directors’ in successfully delivering their planning caseload, including preparing Planning Statements and representations to Local Plan consultations
· Developing your written and oral communication techniques
· Directly engaging in our business development initiatives
· Actively assisting our Assistant Planners, Graduates and Apprentices
· Contributing/ engaging in our Prospects Planning Group
Who we are looking for
· Chartered membership of the RTPI (or close to achieving this)
· Experience in a planning consultancy or local government role
· Aptitude to work to established time frames
· A keen interest in planning, development, and environmental issues
· A good working knowledge of planning policy
· Attention to detail and a proactive mindset
· A strategic thinker and someone who can readily address problems
· A market awareness and a good knowledge of local planning issues
