Full-Time Permanent Join Our Butchery Academy

Ready to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in the food industry? Our Butchery Academy at Westerleigh is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our March 2026 intake as Trainee Butchers.

This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, learn from industry experts, and develop valuable skills in a supportive environment.

What's in it for you? Structured Training Programme : 12 weeks of dedicated training to give you all the skills you need to be successful including:
Knife safety, handling, sharpening, and PPE
Health & Safety, ergonomics, and injury prevention
Food Safety essentials
Practice new skills in our academy before moving to production lines
Workstation stretches for comfort and safety
A choice of areas in which to specialise to suit your skills

Clear progression and specialisation options:
Move from Trainee to Grade 2 butcher on successful completion of the academy
Opportunities to progress to Grade 1, improving your earning potential

Permanent, full-time contract from day one
What to Expect Work in a chilled environment with physical tasks (we'll support you with ergonomic exercises during your first 30 days)
Learn the craft of butchery, including precision cutting and working with different meat sections
Be part of a team that values quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Who We're Looking For Reliable, motivated individuals with a strong work ethic
Comfortable with physical work and standing for long periods
No previous experience required - full training provided
Perfect for those starting their first role or seeking a career change
