Trust Tax Manager or Senior Manager

A leading independent professional services firm is seeking an experienced Trusts professional to join its growing Private Client team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse and engaging portfolio of UK resident and charitable trusts, working closely with senior leadership. You will provide technical expertise across trust accounting, tax compliance, and advisory work, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued development of the team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Trusts Manager, a Trusts Assistant Manager ready to take the next step, or a Trusts Senior Manager seeking a new challenge, with CTA and/or STEP qualifications. Key Responsibilities
Manage an interesting and varied portfolio of UK resident and charitable trusts, ensuring timely delivery of annual accounts and tax compliance. Review work prepared by junior team members, providing feedback, training, and support. Assist with advisory and ad-hoc matters, including inheritance tax and wider trust‑related advice. Collaborate with tax, accounting, and financial planning teams to deliver a cohesive service to clients. Monitor budgets, maintain chargeability targets, and raise fee notes as appropriate. Contribute to the development of best practices and support process improvement across the trust function.
Requirements
CTA and/or STEP qualified, or working towards a STEP qualification. Strong technical knowledge and practical understanding of trust accounting and taxation. Proven experience managing trust portfolios, ideally including charitable trusts. Excellent communication, organisation, and team management skills. Motivated and adaptable, with the ability to build confidence and trust with clients and colleagues. Experience with CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax systems beneficial but not essential.
