We are recruiting a skilled, compassionate, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work across primary and secondary-aged pupils within a supportive educational setting in Chorley. This is a long-term role starting in January, offering consistency, stability, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional needs.
This role is ideal for individuals who are confident working 1:1 and within the classroom, and who bring a calm, nurturing, and resilient approach to supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. Personal care will be required for some pupils.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 tailored support for pupils with ASC across primary and secondary age ranges
Supporting learning and behaviour within the classroom environment
Assisting pupils with personal care, routines, and emotional regulation
Implementing individual support strategies in line with EHCPs and guidance from teaching staff
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams
Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that promotes engagement and progress
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting ASC and SEND pupils (school-based or transferable settings)
Background in support work, youth work, care work, or SEN education (highly desirable)
A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional needs
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
Personal experience supporting SEND (family or informal) is welcomed and valued
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
