Our client, an entrepreneurial boutique Investment office is looking to add to their small but highly experienced investment team by hiring a Research Analyst. This is a rare opportunity to become part of an elite, high-conviction investment team, working across both venture capital and public equity portfolios, with a laser focus on the energy transition.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Be involved in every aspect of the investment process—research, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, performance analysis—while also helping the firm shape and share its thought leadership with the global energy transition investment community.
  • You will work directly with a select group of top-tier VC and PE firms that that partner with the business and gain early access to the next wave of breakthrough technologies shaping the world’s clean energy future.
  • Track the latest in policy, technology, and market dynamics across hydrogen, geothermal, nuclear, bioenergy, carbon capture, renewables, and more.
  • Contribute to published research that strengthens the firm’s reputation as a thought leader in the energy transition investment space.
  • Analyse co-investment opportunities, review data rooms, assess financials, and conduct reference calls with VCs and competitors.
  • Evaluate VC and PE fund managers for potential commitments, assessing their track records, strategies, and portfolio alignment.
  • Perform deep-dive fundamental analysis on portfolio holdings and make investment recommendations.
  • Help compile clear, actionable reporting across both public and private portfolios.

Background & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university, with evidence of high academic achievement in a relevant subject area (e.g., engineering, economics, finance, environmental science, or similar).
  • Early-career investor (likely 2–3 years’ experience) from an investment firm, investment bank, equity research desk, or strategy consultancy.
  • Sharp analytical thinker with strong Excel skills and high intellectual curiosity
  • Confident communicator, comfortable writing memos and presenting insights
  • Passionate about climate, technology, and investing.
  • A highly analytical approach to tasks with a proactive and motivated work ethic.
  • Completed, or the appetite to study towards, CFA qualifications.
