Void Cleaner/Garden Maintenance Operative
Location: Various Across the Northeast (Bernicia Operations)
Contract: Permanent post
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £25,234.00 per annum inclusive of Aprils pay increase
Closing Date: Friday 13th March 2026
About the role:
Are you looking for a role where you can make a real difference? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Operative to join our team and help us create clean, welcoming homes for our tenants.
Your tasks will include (list not exhaustive):
* Perform routine cleaning/small clearing and garden maintenance of void properties and occasionally communal areas.
* Clean and prepare void properties to ensure they are ready for new tenants.
* Dust, mop, sweep, and vacuum surfaces to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment in.
* Work to Bernicia's void standard at all times.
* Sanitise high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and railings.
* Monitor cleaning supplies and report any shortages or maintenance needs.
* Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and hazard-free environment.
* Garden Maintenance where needed
About you:
We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive individual who thrives on delivering exceptional results. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, as is a team-oriented attitude and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Ideally, you’ll bring relevant experience within a similar role, paired with a genuine passion for supporting communities through the work that you do. You’ll need:
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
* Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safety protocols.
* Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
* Working knowledge of Garden Maintenance Equipment (Strimmer/Lawnmower)
* Strong time-management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
* A reliable and professional approach to work, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential, as training can be provided.
* A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends, if required.
