Wagon Fitters - All Mechanical Backgrounds Considered\nLocation: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire\nType: Permanent role (temp to perm) \nStart Date: August \nShifts: 5 days per week - Sunday to Thursday\nHours: 9-hour shifts / 45 hours per week\nPay: £22.50 per hour\n\nThe Role\n\nWe're seeking mechanically skilled individuals to carry out wagon maintenance and examinations in Peterborough, March, and surrounding areas. This is a field-based role working in pairs, mainly covering the Midlands and Southeast, with a focus on the Peterborough region.\n\nWhat to Expect\n\nYou'll start in Peterborough for competency training, \n\nA drug and alcohol test is required following a successful interview.\n\nYou'll attend a paid PTS (Personal Track Safety) course in your first week.\n\nOnce training is complete, you'll receive a company van and begin fieldwork with your assigned partner (this may take a few months).\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarrying out both reactive and preventative maintenance\n\nConducting wagon examinations (full training provided)\n\nSupporting with slinging and lifting tasks\n\nWorking outdoors in all weather conditions\n\nOccasional lodging when required (once competent)\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nSolid mechanical background - all industries considered\n\nNVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline ( but not essential)\n\nFull UK driving licence\n\nExperience with wagons or rolling stock is beneficial but not essential\n\nComfortable with travel - primary bases are Peterborough and March\n\nWilling to work outdoors and attend breakdowns off-site\n\nOpen to occasional overnight stays\n\nWhat's in It for You?\n£22.50 per hour - when contracting before moving to salary. \n\nExpenses and paid lunches when working away\n\nLodging benefits (meals included)\n\nDoor-to-door travel paid when working off-site\n\nFull training in wagon maintenance and examination\n\nInterested?\nApply now or contact us for more information
