Weekend Network Engineer

Weekend Network Engineer Glasgow – 12 Month FTC – Hybrid Competitive salary VIQU has partnered with a global professional services organisation who are hiring a Weekend Network Engineer to join their enterprise IT Platforms team on a 12 month FTC. This role focuses on 3rd line support, owning critical network infrastructure across WAN and LAN environments, and ensuring stability during weekend operations. You'll operate in a high availability, security focused environment, supporting both BAU and project delivery across a global estate. It's a hands on position suited to someone confident working at a senior level across Cisco, firewalls, and enterprise networking technologies. Key Responsibilities of the Weekend Network Engineer: • Provide 3rd line support, troubleshooting and resolving network incidents via ticketing systems
Do you have the following skills, experience and drive to succeed in this role Find out below. • Own and maintain global WAN and LAN infrastructure during weekend coverage • Ensure network availability, performance, and reliability across the estate • Support and implement new network technologies and project initiatives • Work closely with 3rd party vendors for root cause analysis and resolution • Maintain and produce technical documentation and implementation plans • Collaborate with global teams across multiple regions • Ensure compliance with security standards, controls, and regulatory requirements Key Requirements of the Weekend Network Engineer: • Strong 3rd line network troubleshooting across complex enterprise environments • Proven experience designing and implementing multi site LAN and WAN networks • Cisco switching expertise including Nexus 3k and 9k • Strong routing protocol knowledge BGP, EIGRP, OSPF • Firewall experience with Palo Alto or Fortinet • Solid understanding of Layer 7 security and network security principles • Experience with Aruba wireless deployments at scale • Knowledge of MPLS, VPNs, and QoS implementation and troubleshooting • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds NPM and NTA, Cisco Prime • Exposure to F5 LTM, GTM, APM and BIG IP • Experience with Azure, AWS, O365 and cloud connectivity • Knowledge of Azure ExpressRoute and hybrid networking • Experience with VMware NSX, SDN and micro segmentation • ITIL certification or equivalent understanding • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills • CCNP, CCIE or equivalent experience Apply today to speak with VIQU in confidence or contact Belle Hegarty directly via the VIQU website.
