1:1 Teaching Assistant - Year 2

New Today

We’ve got a lovely opportunity to support a Year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming primary school in Downend. This isn’t just about sitting beside a child, it’s about being their calm, consistent support, helping them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
What’s the role?
You’ll be working closely with a pupil who has an autism diagnosis alongside social, emotional and mental health needs. Your role is to help them navigate the school day, build confidence, and access learning in a way that works for them.
Think structure, patience, and plenty of encouragement.
About the school
This is a school where kindness isn’t just encouraged, it’s lived every day. Pupils are supported to grow into confident, independent learners, with values like respect, compassion, and perseverance woven into everything they do.
You’ll be joining a team that genuinely cares, where every child is valued and supported to thrive, both academically and emotionally.
What we’re looking for
Experience supporting children with autism and/or SEMH needs A calm, patient approach, especially during challenging moments Someone who can build trust and positive relationships A team player who’s happy to get stuck in and support where needed If you’ve worked in SEND settings before, brilliant. If not, but you’ve got the right attitude and empathy, we still want to hear from you.
Why this role?
Mornings only, perfect for work-life balance Consistent 1:1 support role, no two days the same A chance to make a genuine, lasting impact Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella faff You’re not “just” a TA here. You’re the person who helps this pupil feel understood, settled, and ready to take on the day.
