Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a full time Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Reception at a supportive primary school in Tamworth starting after Easter. This is a rewarding role for someone patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting children with SEND, particularly pre-verbal communication needs.

You will provide consistent 1:1 support to help the child feel safe, supported, and engaged throughout the school day, working closely with the class teacher and SEN team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a pre-verbal child in Reception
• Support communication, engagement, and emotional regulation
• Use a calm, patient, and nurturing approach
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
• Support learning through play-based and structured activities
• Help implement individual support strategies and routines

Requirements

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or working with young children
• Ideally a L3 or equivalent in childcare
• Experience supporting SEND and/or pre-verbal children (highly desirable)
• Ability to commit to full-time hours, Monday–Friday
• Patient, resilient, and caring nature
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
