Camden, LondonWe are currently looking for a caring and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) in a Camden primary school.

The Role

The school has recently welcomed a child into Year 4 with significant levels of need. The pupil previously had a private tutor in school (after being home-schooled) who will continue for a short period. The school is now looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to take over and support the handover process, providing 1:1 support for learning, emotional regulation, social development, and sensory needs.

The role involves providing individual support for learning, emotional regulation, social development, and sensory needs, enabling the pupil to access the curriculum and participate safely in school. Some interventions will take place outside the classroom, following an individualised programme.

The ideal candidate is empathetic, patient and adaptable, able to build a trusting relationship with the pupil and work collaboratively with staff and parents.

To apply for this position, you must have the following:

Minimum 2 years’ SEND experience in schools
Experience with ASC and PDA
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and de-escalation strategies
Ability to follow individual programmes (SALT/OT/IEP targets)
Experience with social communication support
Confident to provide intimate personal careThe School
