Environmental Health Officer\n\nLocation: Derbyshire\n\nContract Type: Fixed-term until 31st March\n\nHours: Full-time (flexibility required for occasional evenings and Saturdays)\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking a professional, confident, and assertive Environmental Health Officer on behalf of our client to join their team on a short-term contract. This role involves working within a local authority setting, delivering high-quality services to protect public health and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTake enforcement action in accordance with Trading Standards and Environmental Protection legislation.\nInstigate legal proceedings and statutory enforcement where appropriate.\nCommunicate effectively with members of the public, stakeholders, colleagues, and external agencies.\nDemonstrate awareness of equalities and issues in service delivery.\nApply negotiation skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.\nMaintain a commitment to customer care and professional standards.\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nEducation: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C or equivalent).\nDriving Licence: Full UK licence with business insurance (ideally).\nIT Skills: Competent in using information technology systems.\nExperience:Practical Trading Standards Officer (TSO) training within a local authority. \nPrevious enforcement experience under Trading Standards legislation.\nKnowledge of Environmental Protection legislation and procedures.\nPersonal Attributes:Flexible approach to working hours.
