Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially focused Account Manager to drive the growth of our own label product portfolio across major UK grocery retailers. This role is ideal for a customer‑centric, analytical, and relationship‑led individual with strong experience in FMCG, private label, or retail buying/supplier management. You will be responsible for managing key retail accounts, delivering profitable growth, leading customer projects, and identifying opportunities for innovation within the category.


Key Responsibilities


Account Management & Commercial Ownership

  • Manage day‑to‑day relationships with designated grocery retail accounts, ensuring excellent service and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver annual sales, margin, and profitability targets across your account portfolio.
  • Lead JBP (Joint Business Planning) meetings and contribute to long-term strategic planning with each retailer.
  • Analyse sales data, category insights, and market trends to inform account strategy and identify growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional strategies, cost changes, and commercial terms, ensuring competitive but profitable propositions.

Category & Market Insight

  • Use category data and consumer trends to build compelling presentations and proposals for customers.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market pricing, promotions, and new product developments to ensure we maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work with internal to identify whitespace and innovation opportunities for private label ranges.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage product costings, promotional spend, and profitability to meet financial objectives.
  • Maintain accurate account information, forecasts, and pipelines within internal systems.


Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience in FMCG account management, ideally within own label/private label or selling into major UK retailers.
  • Strong understanding of grocery retail dynamics and category management.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial skills with experience managing P&L elements.
  • Highly proficient in data analysis and turning insights into action.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in a specific FMCG category such as chilled, frozen, ambient, household, or health & beauty.
  • Understanding of technical, quality, or manufacturing processes within own label supply.
