Overview 

An Account Manager (AM) at Aver provides strategic counsel and delivers proactive management of B2B PR campaigns for a portfolio of clients. They are responsible for the successful execution of client comms, ultimately generating positive client coverage which aligns with their business goals.  

 

The AM is the driving force behind the delivery of PR activations, leading on and overseeing the media engagement across the team and taking ownership of managing client relationships, ensuring the success of campaigns. They must remain strategically minded and outcomes orientated, distilling Aver’s strategic approach across the team. They will be responsible for the reporting and analysis of campaign performances and staying up to date with key trends.  

 

They have a strong understanding of the client's business, commercial goals, and objectives and have developed a deep knowledge of the built environment and the competitive landscape in which they operate. Their knowledge of the media is second to none and have nurtured robust media relationships across all B2B outlets. They have a real drive for client coverage and distill this hunger throughout the team. By doing so, an Aver AM regularly identifies creative media opportunities and new angles for clients in addition to consistently delivering strong coverage results. They are creative thinkers, adept at managing multiple clients and motivating a team.

They play a key role in supporting, mentoring and developing Aver members to perform to the best of their ability, leading by example in successful campaign execution, enhancing team knowledge across the sector and cultivating a positive and productive culture at Aver. The AM is commercially aware, always scoping out and flagging new opportunities to grow Aver’s brand and existing accounts.  

 

Typically, an AM would have had a minimum of 1-2 year’s experience as a senior account executive, and Aver is specifically looking for a candidate with at least 6 months' experience as an account manager.

 

 

Role and Responsibilities: 

 

Strategic Counsel and Implementation  

  • Remain outcomes oriented not outputs 
  • Support on the development of client communication strategies 
  • Lead on the tactical implementation of client communication strategies, remaining strategically focused at all times 
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients to aid their PR goals and wider commercial objectives 
  • Safeguard the smooth running of the account, pre-empting and addressing any potential client hurdles or challenges 
  • Solutions orientated but shows good judgment on when to involve PR Director in day-to-day issues 
  • Show a high level of business acumen with the ability to communicate across departments and represent PR at a senior level within the business 

 

Client Relationships 

  • Establish strong relationships with existing and new clients across all accounts, proactively nurturing and managing these relationships through counsel, creative problem solving, idea generation and execution 
  • Manage day-to-day client communication, manage client expectations and make assignments for the team 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of client work ensuring it is all geared towards helping to achieve their desired outcomes 
  • Manage a portfolio of client accounts and ensure a streamlined and effective running of accounts, showcasing outstanding organisational skills and multi-tasking ability 
  • Lead in meetings and managing team effectively to deliver results 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the clients’ position in the market and their points of difference  
  • Manage client input and feedback for all projects with detailed direction and timelines 
  • Proactively remain connected to clients and the ever-changing market, identifying new opportunities and providing innovative and creative ideas to clients 
  • Oversee the collating, analysing and evaluating of client results 

 

Media Relationships  

  • Drive successful media relations efforts on behalf of clients through key message development, media training and pitching compelling stories  
  • Lead by example, building and nurturing relationships with key media contacts across various touchpoints and platforms (including podcasts and national media as well as traditional trade media), encouraging your team to do the same 
  • Manage team communication with media and media enquiries  
  • Quality control of comms across the whole team 
  • Write press releases and research news trends and angles for features opportunities 
  • Generate coverage and features for clients by proactively selling stories and feature ideas to media targets through face-to-face to face meetings, attendance at networking events and regular communication 
  • Set a good example, ensuring wider reading is undertaken and strong media knowledge is achieved – distil this with the team 
  • Monitor, analyse and report on client/industry related news 

 

Team Management and Development 

  • Visibly lead and manage the team across accounts ensuring delivery of high quality work 
  • Identify, develop and nurture talent within the team, challenging them to be the very best and pinpointing training needs where required 
  • Provide career counsel and development support for the team, monitoring and leading performance reviews 
  • Lead by example, developing the team’s knowledge and expertise in the built environment and as PR professionals 
  • Communicate up/down effectively 

 

Leadership and Aver 

  • Develop a clear and visible leadership style to ensure support and maximise potential of team members 
  • Lead by example, inspiring the team and making a real difference to the business in the managerial role 
  • Manage company databases, media lists, client contact lists, press releases and coverage archives 
  • Develop Aver initiatives to benefit the business, employees and clients 
  • Where required, provide support for agency growth and development of new business 
  • Where required, be involved in new business pitches  
  • Champion Aver values and brand at all times – setting an example for the team 
  • Contribute to and inspire a ‘laugh and learn’ culture at Aver
