Kingfisher Recruiting has been hired to find an Accountant for a Construction company based in Birmingham. The most qualified candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, 10 years of experience and will have experience in Construction or a similar high volume transaction industry.
Salary: $70-80k

The company has a strong working culture and it’s a great place to work. This role is supported by an in-house CPA who will handle Month End reports.
Key Responsibilities
· Accounts Payable
Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and on time
Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documents
Code expenses to appropriate jobs, phases, and cost codes
Manage subcontractor payments, including lien waivers and compliance documentation
Resolve invoice discrepancies and communicate with vendors as needed
Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments
· Accounts Receivable
Generate and send customer invoices based on contracts, progress billings, and change orders
Track receivables and follow up on past-due accounts
Apply customer payments accurately and reconcile AR balances
Work with project managers to resolve billing questions or disputes
· General Accounting & Support
Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger
Maintain organized and accurate financial records
Support audits and provide documentation as requested
Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and efficiency
Qualifications
· 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or a project-based environment
· Strong AP and AR experience with high transaction volume
· Strong experience with QuickBooks
· Familiarity with job costing, cost codes, and construction workflows
· Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
