Overview

Our client, a well-established and growing business based in Barnet, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a fully onsite role and would suit a candidate with at least 18 months’ UK commercial experience in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities

*

Processing purchase and sales ledger invoices

*

Bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations

*

Assisting with monthly management accounts preparation

*

Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers

*

Processing supplier payments and monitoring cash flow

*

Credit control and resolving invoice queries

*

Assisting with VAT returns

*

Supporting payroll processing (desirable)

*

General finance administration and ad hoc support to the Finance Manager

Requirements

*

Minimum 18 months’ UK commercial experience in a Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant role

*

Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar)

*

Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping

*

Experience with bank reconciliations and ledger management

*

Good Excel skills (including basic formulas and reconciliations)

*

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

*

Strong organisational and communication skills

*

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable

*

AAT qualification (or currently studying)

*

Experience assisting with month-end processes

*

Experience within an SME environment
