About the Role
We are recruiting for experienced and passionate Residential Child Support Workers to join a therapeutic children’s home supporting young people aged 6–11.
This is a small, structured service supporting 3 young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). All children attend school and the focus outside of school hours is on creating a safe, engaging and nurturing home environment.
You will work as part of a 2:1 staffing ratio at all times, ensuring consistent support, safety and positive relationship-building. The role involves a strong focus on activities, routine and engagement, particularly during evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality care within a therapeutic, structured environment
* Support young people with emotional regulation and behaviour management
* Build positive, trusting relationships
* Plan and take part in activities, especially during weekends and free time
* Maintain a safe environment by following safeguarding procedures at all times
* Remain vigilant, ensuring keys are secured and the home is always safe (e.g. doors locked, risks managed)
* Work effectively as part of a team to provide consistent care
Requirements
* Minimum 6 months’ experience in: residential care, schools, youth work or family support
* Experience supporting young people with complex needs and behaviours (EBD)
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential)
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Ability to work long shifts (10–15 hours)
* Flexible and reliable, with availability of at least 24 hours per week
* Minimum age: 21 years old
