AI Development Platform Engineer

We’re working with a growing UK technology company building intelligent software platforms used across large-scale organisations. Following a recent acquisition of new AI technology, the engineering team is expanding as the company develops the next generation of AI-enabled software platforms.
This is not a traditional software development role. The organisation is evolving towards AI-assisted engineering, where software is increasingly generated, tested and deployed through orchestrated AI tools rather than written line-by-line.
They are looking for an AI Development Platform Engineer to help design and build the systems, workflows and guardrails that enable this approach.
You will work closely with senior technical leadership to shape an AI-native development environment capable of delivering reliable, production-grade software within a regulated environment.
The Role
This position combines hands-on software engineering with platform thinking.
You will contribute to modern cloud applications while helping build the internal development systems that support AI-driven engineering.
Responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing full-stack software features across modern cloud platforms
* Building backend services, APIs and data pipelines supporting AI-enabled functionality
* Integrating large language models and agent frameworks into production systems
* Developing workflows that use AI tools to accelerate software delivery
* Ensuring high standards of testing, security and traceability within a regulated environment
* Contributing to internal engineering tooling and development processes
* Supporting production deployments and operational monitoring
This role sits at the intersection of modern software engineering, AI tooling and platform architecture.
Technical Environment
Application Development Python, Node.js, React, .NET
AI & Agent Engineering LangChain / LangGraph LLM APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic and Azure OpenAI AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code
Data Architecture Neo4j MongoDB
Cloud Infrastructure Docker Kubernetes Azure Container Apps CI/CD pipelines
